JUST US: There’s More Than Just You

Love emails like this. Got this from one of our HSM staffers this morning. Hey Revolutionaries…you’re not alone. Keep leading and loving and inviting!!!

Matt,
Valeria Lobo is one of my 9th grade Sunday School girls, and she goes to River Ridge High School.  She has caught the vision and is acting upon what it means to live the Kingdom Life.

The night that we put all of the post-it notes to show the church to unchurched ratio in our area, rather than taking one or two post-it notes to write an unsaved friend’s name on, she took an entire pack of them.  She put all of the post-it notes up on her wall in the shape of a cross with a circle around it.  She decided that for every friend she brings to church who gets saved, she would put a different colored post-it note in a basket in her room.  Before the last Freedom event, she invited her entire lunch table to come.  Three kids came, and two of them got saved at the event!  She was so excited!  She now has two different colored post-it notes in her basket.

This past week she invited a guy friend who she goes to school with to Epicenter.  He had never been to a church before.  He went down front to pray at the alter that night.  When she asked him how he liked church, he simply said that he “felt loved” that night.   Very cool!

Last Sunday she saw the invite cards that Pastor Johnny encouraged us to give to someone.  She didn’t take just one.  She decided to take a stack of them.  On Saturday she didn’t have anything to do, so she decided to walk around her neighborhood and give out the cards to her neighbors.

We ate lunch together on Sunday, and she decided that she wanted to come back to church on Sunday night for the invite service.  She went through our list of 9th grade girl inactives to see who all she knew.  She picked out 8 girls that she knows, but 4 that she specifically wanted to visit.  We visited the four girls, and then she asked me if we could go to Arbor View neighborhood because she had several unchurched friends that lived there.  We ended up going to 5 different houses to invite girls!  In total, we went to 9 different houses to invite girls.

During the 9th grade retreat Girl’s Panel, several questions came up about what is okay to do with a boy.  We discussed how once the door is opened, it is easier to fall more and more into sin.  While we were in the car last night she said, “You know Jordan Lee how at 9th grade retreat during the girl’s panel ya’ll talked about how once you take the first step its easier to take the second step and the third step?  Well its the same way with inviting people to church.  Once you invite the first person its easier and easier to invite more and more people.”

I am consistently blown away by Valeria and all she is allowing God to do through her for the Kingdom.  She is so humble!  She does nothing to impress others, but knows that this is just what she needs to do!
