Recently we asked a few youth pastors to tell us what’s been effective for them in reaching students this year. We posed this question “Give us your top 3 methods/strategies that reached the most students in your ministry this year.”

The responses below are from four youth ministries that together will baptize nearly 1500 students this year.

Pastor Bryan finished his series on Paul and the start of the Philippi church.  This morning we heard about Paul and Silas’ time in prison and how they sang and prayed in the harshest of circumstances.  Ultimately God used this event to save the jailer and set him free and his family.  We were reminded that people always watch how we respond even in the worst of times and that our worship and obedience should not be determined by circumstances.  The jailer saw a difference in Paul and Silas.  They were living out the answer before the jailer even asked the question, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved”?  Pastor Bryan asked the students would their life when they get home match what they have lived this week.  The final recreation team competition took place in the ocean where team after team were paired up to see who would overcome in the tug-of-war challenge.  While all the teams gave their best effort, the team with the most wins was Orange!  After lunch, some of the seniors and some leadership completed a service project helping clean up a small church called The Connection here in Myrtle Beach.  They were all blessed to serve.  We are excited to see what God is going to do in this final worship service this evening.  Baptism in the hotel pool is tonight and Woodstock Idol, a talent competition, will finish up the evening.

Another incredible night of worship last night.  God used Cody Deese to deliver a message on suffering reminding us of the sovereignty of God and how God can use the challenging circumstances, even today, to draw us closer to Him to remind us of our need for a saviour.  He reminded us when we are in the middle of trials and sufferings, it is not over yet.  God lifts our head (Psalm 3:3-6) and weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).  After worship, seniors were treated to Krispy Kreme doughnuts by Bryan Bailey and the college ministry.  Everyone came returned for a late night City Takers……an Atlanta-based christian hiphop ministry, for a night of unique praise and worship with an urban flair.  Please pray that today God would continue to move in a mighty way in the lives of our students and leaders.  It has been an incredible week so far….you would be proud of our FBCW students!

This morning started early with a pancake breakfast for all.  The FBCW camp leadership team here at Myrtle Beach is awesome!  They do a phenomenal job handling the planning and day to day operations so Pastor Matt can be a shepherd to his students.  Here they are up and early making pancakes!

After breakfast, the students met with their leader for small group time.  Many meet on the beach or around the facility.  Then we all headed to morning worship where again Chris Coleman and the Epicenter band lead us to a great time of worship.  Pastor Bryan preached from Acts 16 where the Apostle Paul and others brought the gospel to Philippi.  He gave a challenge and question to the students and leaders.  Life here and now is driven by eternity.  Are you using what you have here and now to bless others and further the Kingdom of God?  Challenging message!

Shortly after it was time for team competition for the day.  Going into recreation, the Green team had the lead.  Today’s recreation competition was the relay race.  Once instructions were given and students placed at each relay stop, the games were on!  The red team started out strong and never lost the lead advantage.  The red team won the relay race, but second and third places were close!

Students headed to lunch afterwards and enjoyed their track times this afternoon.  Update later tonight!  Pray for our evening worship service tonight!

After dinner, evening worship began.  The Chris Coleman band started the worship service.  They are doing an awesome job leading the students and leaders in worship.  Then Cody Deese brought the message.  He preached from Matthew 5: 43-44.  Love your enemies, pray for those that persecute you.  The natural response to our enemies is revenge.  However, revenge never satisfies.  The right response to our enemies is forgiveness.  Cody told the students they could be set free and not be owned by their enemy.  He encouraged the students to forgive their enemies, whoever that may be……After worship, late night began with an Open Night of Worship.  The students were led in worship by the band and several different singers.  Worship was awesome.  Students went back to their rooms with their leader to discuss the day, pray and talk.  Another early day tomorrow.  Good night!!

What a beautiful sight!  Our students out on the beach early this morning doing their quiet time.  Leaders led their campers in small group after breakfast and then all headed for morning worship.  Bryan Bailey, our new college pastor, will be bringing the message during morning worship this week.  He started off today taking a look at the apostle Paul’s conversion.  God doesn’t change our past but gives us a new passion.  The Gospel is the power of God for salvation.

It is not good advice, but good news!  When Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus it changed his heart and passion, not his past.  When he met Jesus there was a radical obedience….Pastor Bryan challenged the students to examine what their life says about the gospel.  What does their life look like now after they have met Jesus.  Paul’s past was driven by religion, but his future was driven by grace.  The gospel demands a response from us!

After the challenging message, it was time for team recreation competition and todays was Dodge Ball.  As you can see from the picture, the blue team came ready….Mike McCoy, the recreation leader, gave each team leader the instructions and the games were on.  At camp, team competition is highly competitive and today was no different.  However, points change constantly, so who knows what team will emerge as the leader!  Campers are at their track time now.  Next update will come after late night.  Continue to pray!!  Satan does not want to see lives changed and hearts caught on fire for the Kingdom of God!  Thanks!

We got an early start this morning and after a short delay we got on our way.  We arrived in Myrtle Beach around 4:00 this afternoon.  Students had a short orientation and pizza was served for dinner.  Our first worship service started with the Chris Coleman band leading the students in worship.  Cody Deese, who will be bringing the evening messages all week, encouraged the students to have a passion for Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.   Late night began with team competition and each team came with their game ready!  By the end of the team competition Green team had jumped into the lead.  However points change constantly so who knows who will be in first place by Thursday night.  Please be in prayer as we finish the first day and the counselors have small group.  Pray that students who don’t know the saving grace of Christ will hear, believe and repent!

UPDATE: We have booked a camp for June 26-30 and are not booking other camps for the Summer 2011.

If you’ve not yet booked a speaker for your summer camp 2011, I have several weeks open next summer and would love to serve your ministry. I’m only booking one camp for 2011 as the summer is pretty packed already.  I spent three summers in seminary serving as camp pastor speaking to groups twice a day for the majority of the summer, and I’m getting the itch to do it again next summer!

Here are the 2011 summer weeks I have available:
June 6-10
June 20-24
June 27-July 1
July 4-8
